APE is owned and operated by Steve Milano, who personally performs client engagements, working with you and your staff on every aspect of your publication’s analysis and review.

Steve has worked as a “magazine doctor” for more than 25 years, specializing in restructuring, re-branding and repositioning trade association and nonprofit magazines and newsletters. He has held executive-level positions for numerous trade associations, nonprofit organizations and for-profit businesses across the U.S. Titles Steve has held include Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer, V.P. of Marketing, Director of Publishing, Executive Editor and Adjunct Professor.

His nonprofit clients have included the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters, Georgia Defense Lawyers Association, Kansas Wildlife Federation, Georgia chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, Professional Tennis Registry Foundation and U.S. Golf Teachers Federation. He is the founder of the U.S. High School Tennis Association.

Steve has created several publishing webinars and an eight-module eLearning course (see the list on the front page of this website).

With an undergraduate degree in journalism/advertising and a master’s in journalism/magazine publishing from Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism, Steve is an experienced print and SEO writer.

He has helped build and manage numerous websites, owned his own sports marketing firm, and has been a local TV talk show host. As an adjunct professor and seminar leader, Steve has taught business communications courses to corporate managers from such companies as Delta Airlines, The Home Depot, Coca-Cola Co., Toys ‘R Us, Kodak and Wachovia Bank.

Steve has published articles in consumer and trade magazines, newspapers, e-zines and newsletters, including Entrepreneur, Fit, Sports Illustrated for Kids, Tennis and American Golf Pro.
